The Detroit Concert Choir is Detroit's international award winning vocal ensemble. The choir has a worldwide reputation for choral excellence and is recognized for exceptional artistic expression and inspiring performances.
The ensemble's beloved founder, the late Gordon Nelson, led the Detroit Concert Choir for 27 years and developed a magnificent choir dedicated to promoting choral music of high artistic merit. After an interim year showcasing its hallmark choral artistry with Associate Conductor Stan Harr, the choir is now entering an exciting new chapter under the direction of Dr. Brandon Johnson.
The choir will continue to present local audiences with an outstanding collection of inspiring performances with repertoire from around the world, ranging from early a cappella and sacred music to contemporary compositions, American folk and gospel, and great masterworks for chorus and orchestra. Please join us as we welcome our new director and a sparkling new season of musical beauty and inspiration.
This concert season is made possible with the support of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
