    Outreach

This season we will be collaborating with many soloists, musicians, artists, and choral groups such as the Detroit Children's Choir, to promote cultural enrichment for the community. We look forward to commissioning a new work and performing arrangements by Michigan composer Stacey Gibbs.

    2015-2016 Season, Music to Cherish

We strive to contribute to a vibrant society, and bring to Michigan a collection of choral music to honor the history and to celebrate the future of the Detroit Concert Choir. 'Music to Cherish', which appealed to all ages, enhanced the appreciation of both new works and the vast traditions of choral music. We look forward to our upcoming exciting 2016-17 Season. Read More

A New Chapter

The Detroit Concert Choir is Detroit's international award winning vocal ensemble. The choir has a worldwide reputation for choral excellence and is recognized for exceptional artistic expression and inspiring performances.

The ensemble's beloved founder, the late Gordon Nelson, led the Detroit Concert Choir for 27 years and developed a magnificent choir dedicated to promoting choral music of high artistic merit. After an interim year showcasing its hallmark choral artistry with Associate Conductor Stan Harr, the choir is now under the direction of Dr. Brandon Johnson.

The choir will continue to present local audiences with an outstanding collection of inspiring performances with repertoire from around the world, ranging from early a cappella and sacred music to contemporary compositions, American folk and gospel, and great masterworks for chorus and orchestra.

This concert season was made possible with the support of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
